Cheriyal Art

Cheriyal painting is a traditional and stylized form of scroll painting that originated in Cheriyal, a village in the state of Telangana, India. This art form is also known as Cheriyal scroll painting or Nakashi art. Cheriyal paintings are known for their vibrant colors and distinctive storytelling style.

Vinay K is a multi-generational Cheriyal artist who is a trained fine-art graduate. He has traveled International with his art and is enthusiastic about taking the legacy forward. He is among a handful of people from the new generation who is using traditional art of Cheriyal as an instrument for social and environmental awareness.

She is associated with courage, valor, and righteousness. Her name is derived from the sage Katyayana, who is said to have performed rigorous penance to invoke the goddess.

    Katyayani is often depicted riding a lion and holding various weapons, symbolizing her warrior aspect. She is believed to have been born to sage Katyayana and was an avatar of Durga, who manifested to defeat the demon Mahishasura.
