Come join us to explore and create your own wooden photo-frames and wooden coasters in an ancient Indian visual artform, called “Madhubani Painting”. Learn about the origin and history of the art and how the multi-generational art-form lead to the empowerment of the rural folks. Take home your self-created keepsakes in the heritage art-form to use or decorate at the mantle place this holiday season.

Description
Learn about the art traditions behind Diwali, the Festival of Lights celebrated in India. Local artist Deepti Agrawal will guide you through an overview of India’s art practices and folk customs, then show how they are incorporated into this joyous holiday celebration. She will finish by helping the participants create their own Diwali artworks traditionally known to usher good vibes and prosperity into our homes. Instructions and rangoli design templates are emailed to participants upon registration.

All the artworks created by them would either be donated to seniors or would be given as gratitude favors for the doctors of Providence Healthcare for Diwali and over holidays. A fundraiser for Wind Beneath the Wings was conducted for Microsoft Employees. The event was hosted by Vijayalakshmi, conducted by teaching artist, Nikita Thakalath and supported by the youth teaching artist, Anvika Bheemarasetty.
Google Event, Kirkland
An org-wide art event was conducted for the Google Employees in their Kirkland Office. The event was hosted by Googler Pooja Singhal and the event leads were Deepti Agrawal and the teaching artist, Nikita Thakalath. It was supported by the youth teaching artist, Anushka Bains and artist-in-training, Archana Kulkarni.

Google Event, Bellevue
An art event was conducted for the Google Employees in their Bellevue Office at the iconic event of the completion of 25 years of Google. The event was hosted by Googler Liuda Gishman and the event leads were Deepti Agrawal and the teaching artist, Nikita Thakalath. It was supported by the volunteers Deepthi Sunder Rajan and Shilpa Sherigar.
Ananya’s Solo Show
Ananya recently completed her solo show at the Redmond Community Center. She showcased all the wonderful and unique paintings she made over the years and received a certificate stating she is a professional Madhubani artist.
Bothell Summerfest by Bothell-Kenmore Chamber of Commerce
Deepti Designs participated in the Summerfest hosted by Kenmore-Bothell Chamber of Commerce and conducted hands-on activity along with a show of artworks at Bothell Landing Park.
The event was led by Deepti Agrawal and Nikita Thakalath and was joined by artists, Yashvy Patni, Shakambari Ramachandran, Adithi Siva, and teaching artist, Anushka Bains.
Google Event, Kirkland
The event was conducted at the Google office in Kirkland to allow the Google employees to participate in the therapeutic art practice. It initiative garnered great feedback from the participants and was followed up with more event invites from other Google offices. Nikita Thakalath, Anvika Bheemarasetty, and Meenakshi Iyer supported the program which was lead by Deepti Agrawal.
Canyon Creek Rangoli Touch-up
Canyon Creek Elementary School in Bothell features one of Deepti Designs artworks as a permanent art installation.
The artwork is installed in the middle of the quadrangle at the entryway and has the school's mascot in the center flanked by Indian traditional art elements all around.
The original installation was done in May 2022 and our artists and volunteers went back on August 22nd, to retouch the artwork.
Along with the PTA member, Foram Yagnik, artists Deepti Agrawal, and Nikita Thakalath, along with volunteers, Yashvy Patni, Bhargavi, Sanika Kabbur, and Khushi Sherigar helped in painting and getting it ready for the upcoming school year.
Washington State Speakers Bureau Talk at Sno-Isle Library in Mountlake Terrace
Humanities WA Speaker Bureau was head at Sno-Isle Mountlake Terrace library on August 19th where over 40 participants attended and learned about Madhubani Art, its history, and its rich and diverse culture.
Deepti Agarwal was joined by teaching artists Nikita Thakalath, Anvika Bheemarasetty, and artists-in-training, Anvi Dua, and Aanya Sheth.
Bothell Cultural Night by Northwest Folklife and City of Bothell
Deepti Designs’ booth featured live painting and an area for visitors to make their own Madhubani keepsakes. Arunim Goyal, Anishka Gogoi, Dhruvika Gogoi, and Aashi Sherigar helped run the booth. Arunim and Anishka also got the chance to present on stage and give a talk on the art style and showcase one of their paintings.
Redmond Artwalk - LIVE mural - Kalptaru
The City of Redmond invited Deepti Agrawal to paint a wall mural LIVE over three days to form part of the Redmond ArtWalk. Deepti Agarwal and Nikita Thakalath led the project with about 15 volunteering artists.
We created Kalptaru - The Wishing Tree, right in the middle of Redmond Downtown Park. The art features a dancing monochrome tree with a vibrant background filled with a variety of flowers, leaves, and birds. At the bottom of the tree is a stream of water with lotuses and colorful fish.
"Hello" in ten different Indian languages is scripted on the tree trunk and the names of the volunteering artists in their native languages were inscribed in the folds of the water. The composition represents the harmonious and peaceful coexistence of different species in an inclusive environment, thereby representing Redmond City at the subliminal level.
Indian Independence Day Art Workshop
Kannada Bharati, a non-profit organization that promotes the cultural heritage of Karnataka, conducted a free Madhubani art workshop for kids as part of an Independence Day celebration on August 13th.
Adithi Siva, Amrutha Arvind, Aarthi Sathyanarayanan, Manavi Shukla, and Jahnavi Shukla volunteered to help visitors make puzzle boards and bookmarks. Adult mentor, Vidhya Durai lead the event.
Tiranga Kids Bothell Bazaar
Arianna Sinha represented the school at the event held at Northcreek High School, Bothell, selling handcrafted earrings and displaying her paintings. Arianna ended up selling out all of her earrings and many people at the event stopped to look at the beautiful art.
All the proceeds from the stall went to Sankara Healthcare Foundation.
Washington State Speakers’ Bureau Talk, Sultan
Washington State Speakers Bureau talk was held at the Sno-Isle Library in Sultan, WA. Deepti Agrawal was the lead speaker who was supported by participating artists, Nikita Thakalath, Rithikka Souresh, and Anvika Bheemarasetty.

Deepti Designs participated in the Summerfest hosted by Kenmore-Bothell Chamber of Commerce and conducted hands-on activity along with a show of artworks at Bothell Landing Park.
Our artists Anvika Bheemarasetty and Aadya Bommineni painted LIVE at the event which was much appreciated by the visitors. We held a booth offering hands-on activity which also showcased artworks by the participating artists. Nikita Thakalath lead the event with artists, Jahnavi Shukla, Manavi Shukla, Meenakshi Iyer and Annapoorni Panchap.
