Our artist @vrindarathi_ who is also a @northcreekhighschool senior painted her parking spot at school, along with her arty brother, Shrirang and her art peers @anushka_bains and Nina.

It was such a delight to see how the girls relate to and identify with their heritage art and are happy and proud to share it with the world outside of their homes and family.

It was a lovely gesture @vrindarathi_. And kudos to the team for helping out!

Seattle Art Museum - Embodied Change Exhibit Community Opening

Join us in celebrating the opening of Embodied Change: South Asian Art Across Time with a day of free art activities and artist interactions at the Seattle Asian Art Museum. The ancient and contemporary South Asian artists in this exhibition explore the myriad of ways in which the body is depicted, especially the female and non-binary body.

Programs taking place during the community opening include an artist talk with Humaira Abid, a Bharatnatyam and Kathak dance performance by Southeast Asian art collective Pratidhwani, and a take-away Madhubani painting activity designed by artist Deepti Agrawal. Activities will occur throughout the day during the museum's open hours.

This community opening event takes place on Last Friday where admission to the Seattle Asian Art Museum is free. Reserving tickets in advance is recommended but not required.

Navatala Workshop

to Mar 12

Navatala Workshop

A great opportunity to learn the traditional art of Shilpa Shastra from the maven artist Drdha Vrata Gorrick @drdha_art. His journey as an artist is as remarkable as the art he practices. His work infuses new life into the devotional art. This is our big opportunity to learn from the master himself.

In the workshop, the concept of Navatala will be covered and practiced. It is the most used proportion in creating divine Vedic deities. Mr. Gorrick will also draw parallels between this iconometry from ancient India and some popular sketches by western legendary artists.

It's a 2-day workshop which is a non-profit event with a minimal commitment fee of $10 (to be paid once for both days). The workshop is open to all ages 10 and above.

A big shout out to @humanitieswa for funding the event which enabled us to bring it practically free of cost to all. We are forever grateful for their generous support towards arts and artists, particularly traditional and folk practitioners.
