Paheli
Vintage Style Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle
Paheli is an amalgamation of the rich history of the heritage art style, Madhubani Painting and the craftsmanship of the earliest form of Jigsaw Puzzles.
Early puzzles were produced by mounting maps on sheets of hardwood and cutting along national boundaries, creating a puzzle useful for teaching geography. Jigsaw puzzles soared in popularity during the Great Depression, as they provided a cheap, long-lasting, recyclable form of entertainment. Sales of wooden jigsaw puzzles fell after World War II as improvements in manufacturing processes made paperboard jigsaws more attractive and relatively cheaper. Jigsaw puzzle collectors prize old wooden jigsaw puzzles for their intricacy, craftsmanship, and the “heft” of the pieces. For the serious jigsaw puzzle enthusiast, there is nothing quite as satisfying as plunking a wooden piece into place.
